A Collection of Poems
Employing a variety of poetic forms, from the three-lined, simplicity of Japanese haiku to extended prose poems, Richard and Allan explore a wide variety of themes likely to resonate with most readers – love, death, retirement, the tragic, the comedic, the absurd and the simple truths that bind us together especially in times of great concern such as the pandemic crisis. As Richard encourages us in his poem, The Shape of Things to Come, “Look not for images known to you, seek to glimpse the future, change your view. Look beyond the familiar.” If nothing else, perhaps the pandemic is forcing us to indeed look beyond the familiar – to change our view of not only the bigger world as we know it (or knew it) but also, perhaps, of ourselves. Hopefully, our poems will help a little bit.
